Minimalist Running – Not Smart

In the American College of Sports Medicine’s “Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise” journal, Sarah Ridge, a professor of exercise science at Brigham Young University in Provo, was asked by Dr. Douglas Brown, a radiologist in Orem, Utah, to help explain why runners wearing minimalist shoes were showing injuries not seen when they ran in classic running shoes. Using MRI, runners, after running in minimalist shoes for 10 weeks, developed bone marrow edema. This is a sure sign the foot was taking a beating. Enough said!
